NYPA takes the complexity out of solar and storage. We help you find and implement the best solution to meet the needs of your community. With solar, there are opportunities to create bill credits, generate revenue, or achieve cost savings on your energy bill.
NYPA simplifies the complex process of bringing renewable energy to your site. We offer an end-to-end solution—helping you assess, plan, develop and install solar, storage, and other on-site energy systems. NYPA can help you assess the feasibility of your site for customer-sited solar. Our team offers comprehensive project management - including feasibility, developer selection, contracting services, and equipment installation.
NYPA now has the authority to own and operate renewables for your community. The 2023-24 Enacted State Budget enabled NYPA to develop, own, and operate renewable energy generation projects such as solar, wind, or battery storage, either alone or in collaboration with third parties. This expanded authority provides additional implementation options for your site based on your specific project criteria.
As your trusted partner, NYPA works with you to guide project success—helping you build a plan, moving you through a streamlined implementation process, and supporting a green future for your community. We structure each project to meet your goals.

NYPA can collaborate with you to evaluate potential delivery methods and determine the best option to meet your needs. We offer a range of delivery models including NYPA-owned, solar capital, and third party or developer-owned.
In a NYPA-owned project, NYPA owns and operates the solar installation. With a solar capital project, the customer owns the panels and receives the full energy value from the project, including cost savings and bill credits. With a third party or developer-owned project, you enter into a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a third party who owns and operates the system.
NYPA can assist with the selection of implementation models and the evaluation of related long-term arrangements such as direct purchase, land lease, license, easement, and access agreements.
